Science students at Clay high school will soon have a way to measure the wind and how much power it can produce. This grant-funded project will provide data on how well turbines produce power in the changeable wind environment near the lake.

What is the difference in elevation between Lake Superior and Lake Ontario?

Four of the five Great Lakes are at different elevations, and they descend like a series of steps to the Atlantic Ocean (starting at Lake Superior and exiting into the Atlantic Ocean through the St. Lawrence River). Lake Superior's elevation is 601 feet (183 meters) above sea level, while Lake Ontario's elevation is 243 feet (74 meters) above sea level, so there's a difference of 358 feet (109 meters).
