Life on Lake Erie Photo Contest Lake Erie Commission (6/30) Amateur photographers and camera buffs age 18 and older are encouraged to enter this year's "Life on Lake Erie" photo contest. The "Life on Lake Erie" photo contest is one of many events planned for Ohio's Coastweeks 2008, which runs September 12-21.
IAGLR web site gets new look International Association for Great Lakes Research (IAGLR) (6/27) IAGLR -- a scientific organization made up of researchers studying the Laurentian Great Lakes, other large lakes of the world and their watersheds, as well as those with an interest in such research -- has improved its web site and added additional resources.
Do Your Part! for Climate Friendly Parks National Parks Conservation Association (6/26) Do Your Part! for Climate Friendly Parks is the first interactive online program in the U.S. that provides national park visitors and supporters with the tools to understand and reduce their carbon footprints, helping to protect our national parks from global warming.
Michigan Energy Fair Great Lakes Renewable Energy Association (6/24) This three-day event, June 27-29, will unite people from throughout Michigan and the Great Lakes region to learn about energy issues and sustainable living. Attendees will have the opportunity to attend educational workshops; meet vendors offering valuable goods, services, and information; eat local food; and hear great live music.
Cities of the Great Lakes & St. Lawrence: Prosperity, Vitality, Sustainability (6/23) Toronto Mayor David Miller is proud to host the 2008 Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Cities Initiative Conference. Mayors, other local officials, federal, state and provincial government representatives, and other interested stakeholders will go to Toronto July 16-18, to hear about the most pressing issues facing the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence region.

Explore estuaries, kayak to sea caves, and investigate the lake’s critical issues from social, environmental, and economic perspectives. Pathfinders is an environmental leadership and social justice program, July 26 - August 2, for grades 9-12.
Indiana Fish Farming (6/18) The Indiana Soybean Alliance (ISA) and Purdue University Extension are cosponsoring six free Summer Aquaculture Workshops. They are bringing together public and private industry partners to provide information on how to start or expand a fish farm to meet the demands of this growing food market.

Public Meetings on Great Lakes Water Levels to be held in MN, ON and WI International Joint Commission (6/5) At these meetings, experts from the International Upper Great Lakes Study (IUGLS) will present the latest scientific findings and provide current information about water levels. They will also briefly outline the structure and purpose of the Study and review a history of water level regulation in the Great Lakes.
Michigan's Role in Great Lakes Protection and Restoration: Analysis and Recommendations Michigan United Conservation Clubs (6/4) MUCC's report takes a tough look at the important work Michigan has already done to help protect and restore the Great Lakes and compares those actions to the Great Lakes Regional Collaboration. The Gap Analysis and Recommendations provides detail on Michigan's work in these areas and recommendations where gaps in protection and restoration occur.
