At the symposium, participants will participate in a variety of fun and engaging activities including field trips, watershed research, hands-on investigations, leadership-building activities, explorations of the history and culture of the Lake Superior region, and much, much more! Throughout the symposium, students will share their knowledge and skills, learn how to assess needs in their local community, brainstorm strategies for addressing issues, and develop a project to implement when they return home using the Kellogg Foundation’s publication /Young People Creating Community Change./ By gathering together students from all over the Lake Superior Basin, the symposium reinforces the concept that residents from throughout the basin share common problems and must work together to create solutions.
