Electricity Supplies – Briefing on the Summer Outlook


The Council of Regional Transmission Organizations will host a luncheon briefing on Monday, June 19, on the summer outlook for electricity supplies and the role of regional transmission operators in managing the electric grid.  The June 19 event will run from noon until 1:30 pm in B369 Rayburn House Office Building.  Lunch will be provided.  Contact:  Denise Schuhart with PJM Interconnection (202/393-7757)


Great Lakes Mayors – Meeting

Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Cities Initiative is meeting this week in Perry Sound, Ontario.  The annual gathering of regional mayors will focus on ecosystem restoration, water conservation, waterfront vitality, and other key issues.  Contact:  David Ullrich at the Cities Initiative (312/201-4516).


Modern Electricity Grid – Northeast Conference


A Northeast regional summit on Modernizing the Grid will be held on June 25 – 27, 2006, at the Cranwell Resort in Lenox, Massachusetts.  Participants will help build a shared agenda for modernizing the regional and national electricity infrastructure.  Future investments in the electricity industry must be carefully directed toward improving reliability and efficiency while reducing costs and environmental impacts.  Contact:  Diane DeVaul at the Northeast-Midwest Institute (202/464-4009).

The Spring 2006 issue of the Northeast-Midwest Economic Review includes articles on community development, local agricultural markets, energy security, and electricity policy.
