Great Lakes Science Center

The Great Lakes Science Center is one of America's largest interactive science museums. More than 400 exciting "hands-on" exhibits, breathtaking OMNIMAX® films, daily demonstrations and exciting educational programs show visitors the interdependency of science, environment and technology, particularly in the Great Lakes Region.

Current Lake Sturgeon work and issues

Overfishing and habitat destruction in the early 1900s devastated lake sturgeon (Acipenser fulvescens) populations in the Great Lakes. Historically, the Detroit River supported one of the largest lake sturgeon populations. Studies are currently underway on the dynamics of remaining sturgeon spawning habitat in areas of channel between lakes Erie and Huron. This site includes a Fact Sheet and numerous posters to dowload.
