GLIN==> Storm Water Workshop

November 9, 2000

	The Michigan Water Environment Association (MWEA) Watershed Management Committee and the Michigan Chapter of APWA will be presenting a second Storm Water Treatment Workshop on November 9, 2000 at McCamley Plaza Hotel in Battle Creek. The workshop is designed to assist decision makers like public works officials in selecting structural Best Management Practices (BMP's) for meeting current and upcoming regulations regarding Storm Water runoff.

	The workshop will be one day with the morning session presenting seven technologies that are examples of the new proprietary technologies available on the market as BMP's. The afternoon session will present chemical treatment technologies and an expert panel discussion on how to select the best BMP mix for your situation. Members of the panel will include John Kosco, from EPA's Office of Waste Water Management who is directing the development of EPA's Phase II BMP Menu. Also included will be Roger Bannerman, from Wisconsin DNR who is the chairman of EPA's Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) Wet Weather Flow Technology panel. The ETV Wet Weather Flow Verification Program is being directed by NSF International and will provide independent verification of vender claims regarding treatment technology capabilities. Other panel members will include Ralph Reznick of Michigan's Non-Point Source Program; Chris Dopp, a representative from APWA; and Dennis Wojcik, an engineer from Washtenaw County's Drain Commissioner's office.

	The workshop will also include a vendor exhibit hall showcasing companies who specialize in Storm water technology and consulting. A reception sponsored by the vendors will follow the panel discussion and will provide an opportunity to further review various technology options. The cost for attendance is only $65.00 for MWEA and APWA members who register prior to November 3, 2000. $95 for nonmembers. $15 more for late registration.

	This workshop will be an excellent opportunity to find out more about what technologies are available as BMP's for meeting upcoming Stormwater requirements as well as provide direction on how to select them. The last workshop sold out several weeks in advance so early registration is recommended. For those who may have to travel longer distance to attend, a block of rooms have been reserved at a discounted rate. For further information contact David Woelkers at (800) 526-9629.
