June 27-28 "Intelligent Transportation Systems"
conference in K'Zoo

Hi Everybody:

Here's information on a conference regarding intelligent transportation
systems, or ITS, coming to Kalamazoo in June.

Some see promise in ITS because it can help handle more cars and trucks
on the roads via technological advances, rather than via new and wider
roads. It's not the whole solution to congestion certainly, but to some
it's part of the answer to combating more pavement.

Others see ITS as purely counter-productive because it encourages more
driving, rather than seeking to reduce traffic via transit and smart
growth.

Regardless of your view, it's worth knowing that this conference is
heading to Michigan in June...
