BEACHNET==> Rockwell hired as Beach Water Quality Forecasting Coordinator

David Rockwell has been hired as the NOAA Center of Excellence for Great 
Lakes and Human Health Beach Water Quality Forecasting Coordinator 
through the University of Michigan Cooperative Institute for Limnology 
and Ecosystems Research (CILER). His primary responsibilities are to 
coordinate and develop a generalized process for beach quality 
nowcasting, forecasting, and product delivery to apply to new beaches 
and coordinate among agencies involved with beach quality forecasting.

Rockwell brings significant beach programming and modeling experience to 
this position through his previous position at EPA's Great Lakes 
National Program Office (GLNPO), where he worked for 30 years. During 
his time at EPA, he developed Region V's beach monitoring program in 
1980, was GLNPO's lead in developing the Coastal Health Strategy of the 
Great Lakes Regional Collaboration as well as co-authored various 
papers, book chapters and reports regarding Great Lakes beach health and 
monitoring.
