BEACHNET==> Estimating the economic value of beaches

Over the years, lots of people have asked about the economic value of beaches, monitoring and visitors' health.   There are many approaches to addressing economic valuation of the resource and the visitor experience.  Most of us are familiar with revenue approaches to assessing economic assets, but for non-market assets concepts such as revenue, profits, return are not a practical approaches.  The following website looks some economic valuation of coastal recreational resources.  It has a good data base and literature review.  I noticed several beach studies that were not cited though.  This includes:  Rabinovici et al work on Lake Michigan, Givens and Boehm,  Rabinovici et al.,  Pendleton et al, Dwight et al. work on the West Coast.

Here is an outstanding powerpoint on the subject by Linwood Pendleton as well.
