Rapid QPCR Methods
Dear all,
As most of you know my lab has been working for some time to develop
rapid QPCR based methods for recreational (and drinking water). We have
two methods, one for E. coli and one for Enterococcus that we have
developed for recreational waters, in conjunction with Cepheid, Inc, and
they are sold in a dry bead format for QPCR. Those methods were
originally developed and optimized on the Smart Cycler II (QPCR machine
from Cepheid), but there are cheaper, higher throughput machines out
there that we have been testing the assays on to make sure that they
still work comparably. We are currently compiling our comparison
information, and are wondering, have any of you conducted these QPCR
analyses with machines other than the Smart Cycler II, and have you done
so by using side by side "traditional" methods of testing (like IDEXX
kits or something). If you have and you would be willing to share your
data with us, we will compile our information and share it all to the
larger BEACH community. If folks are interested in conducting such
comparisons, but have not to date, we are willing to share all of our
protocols, etc. for sample processing.
Best
