The Environmental Pathogens Information network (EPI-Net), in conjunction with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, is holding a workshop on Microbial Source Tracking (MST) on September 14, 2007, at the Ralph Metcalfe Federal building U.S. EPA Region 5's Office in Chicago, IL. As an organization, EPI-NET provides a stable, centralized resource of water related environmental microbiological contamination information, encourages information sharing, connects a network of stakeholders, regulatory officials, and technical experts, provides a reliable point of reference (methods and data interpretation) and increases our ability to develop a coherent national research agenda and good public policy. The workshop will cover the following topics: Pathogens in the environment, Rapid methods for pathogen detections, MST uses and applications, MST methodology (library dependent and library independent methods) and MST case study. We will also have methods demonstrations. Please, feel free to distribute.
