persistence of fib in santa monica bay beach sediments



conclusions are that organic content and beach layout (waves vs still water) are more important for bacterial survival in sediment than particle size
 
section 3.4 (if i am reading it correctly) also discusses possiblity that 1 gram of sediment with 10,000 enterococcus has the same risk as 104 ent colonies per 100 mls of water
