Re: Turbidity Meter or Sensor

Jeff,
We use turbidimeters throughout our facilities. Field units are available from LaMotte, WTW, HF Scientific, and HACH. My experience is with WTW and HACH. The WTW units are made by a German company known for their hand held instrumentation. They can be purchased through VWR or Cole Parmer. In the drinking water industry, HACH reigns supreme. They also have a hand held instrument that I have used and works well. I would try to "test drive" what every instrument you plan to purchase to see how it responds. Turbidity read-outs can be frustrating as they flucctuate around. Note that these instruments will read up to 1000 NTU whereas lab instruments can go to 7500 NTU.

Hello

I work for a local health department conducting lake and stream and
beach monitoring. We currently have 2 YSI 556 multi-parameter meters
(collect temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, and conductivity). I am
interested in measuring turbidity.

Do you have any suggestions in a stand alone sensor or a turbidimeter
kit? Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and have a
great day.

Jeff
