Call for Abstracts
Great Lakes Beach Association - 4th Annual Meeting
Parma, Ohio
The Great Lakes Beach Association (GLBA) will again be holding its
annual conference on recreational water quality. This meeting is FREE.
The purpose of the meeting is to share local, county, state, and
regional beach information between beach managers, coordinators,
researchers, and other interested people. A brief overview of the 3-day
USEPA National Beach Conference held on October 13 - 15 in San Diego, CA
will also be given.
DATE: November 30 December 1, 2004 (poster session on November 30,
2004, from 5:30 7:30 PM)
PLACE: Cuyahoga County Board of Health, 5550 Venture Drive, Parma,

Posters representing original research may be submitted for any aspect
of beach health but the following topics are especially welcomed: rapid
testing, visitor communication, inter- & intra state communication,
modeling, policy development, public health, non point source pollution,
progress reporting, predictive monitoring & efficacy evaluation, and
source tracking. Presentations from Canadian jurisdictions and eastern
Great Lakes are encouraged. Graduate students are especially encouraged
to participate in the poster session. Abstracts of not more than 500
words should be submitted for consideration prior to the closing date.
Underline the presenting author and include affiliation, address and
tel./fax/email of the presenting author only. Abstracts should include,
but not as headings objectives, methods, results, and conclusions. The
deadline for abstract submission is October 1, 2004. Authors will be
notified of acceptance by October 15, 2004.
Assigned poster numbers will be provided at the registration check in
desk. Posters should be pre-mounted on white foam boards (easels will be
provided). The content of each poster should be clearly divided into
sections: introduction, definition of the problem (or aim of work),
discussion, results, and conclusions. All authors are expected to remain
with their posters for the evening poster session and reception.
On December 1, the GLBA meeting will continue from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
and include oral presentations, a discussion session, and the annual
GLBA business meeting.
