Jill Lis and I have started a discussion thread on the title of the 'Beach
Association'.  Please feel free to jump in.  We need your input, 'cause we

Hi Richard, now don't get all scientific on me about the title, ok?  I'm
just kidding.  I would say that I have to agree with you, the more I say
the
title to myself (Great Lakes Assoc. for Healthy Recreational Waters), I
easily see how someone might interpret it as an advocacy group.  Being in
the field of public health, the "healthy rec. beaches" portion of the title
appealed to me, but I'm certainly open to anything.  I do like the other
title you suggested, Great Lakes Beach Water Quality Association.  I also
like it by changing "beach" to "recreational".  To avoid the advocacy
issue,
we should avoid using the word "For" in any title that is chosen.  Keep in
touch.  Please feel free to share my opinion.  I'll keep in touch. Jill

Thanks.  My only concern about that particular title "Great Lakes Assoc.
for Healthy Recreational Beaches" is that it sounds a bit like an advocacy
group.  Tell me what you think why that name appeals to you over something
like "Great Lakes Beach Water Quality Association".  Your title certainly
sets out our agenda and mission, but I guess it rubs my bureaucratic and
scientific feathers a little to put the mission in the title so plainly.
