Environmental Defense A not-for-profit environmental advocacy group with four main goals: (1) Stabilizing the Earth's climate, (2) Safeguarding the world's oceans, (3) Protecting human health, and (4) Defending and restoring biodiversity. Environmental Justice U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Environmental Justice is the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color, national origin, or income with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies. Grand Calumet Task Force A community environmental organization which works to improve the land, air and water quality of the Grand Calumet River and the urban ecosystem that surrounds it, and to achieve environmental justice for the people of Northwest Indiana. Midwest Environmental Advocates MEA is a legal and technical resource center for community groups across Wisconsin, Minnesota and Upper Michigan who are working for environmental justice. Founded in 2000, one of MEA's first campaigns is to provide legal support for a multicultural coalition of communities who are impacted by high levels of toxins in the waters and fish of the western Great Lakes.
