What's New
Minnesota asks feds for another shot at wolves

Safe Passages Great Lakes Days
(3/12)
Protecting migrating birds is the goal of Safe Passage Great Lakes Days, from March 15 to May 31. During this time, turning lights off from the fifth floor and up late at night will help protect the lives of many migrating birds who rely partly on the stars and moon to navigate.

Lesser known species, plants face extinction
South Bend Tribune (3/3)
Michigan's gray wolf may be getting the most attention, but it isn't the only species jumping on and off the endangered species list. Scientists say many other animals and plants face extinction in the Midwest. Development, habitat destruction and alien rivals are to blame.

Mute swans muscling way in along Lake Ontario
Rochester Democrat and Chronicle (2/25)
Mute swans tend to stay in the same area year-round, moving only as far as necessary to find open water in winter. A New York project that put neck bands on some of these invasive, non-native birds to track their movements has definitely confirmed that.
